Exploring Breath and Sound with Native Flute
An single-session online workshop. Wednesday, May 13, 2020, 10:30am-noon CDT.
Our breath is the foundation to the beauty in the sound of the
Native flute. This workshop will focus on two complementary
aspects: 1) how to use our breath more effectively and with
ease in our flute playing; 2) how we can use our flute playing
to help calm ourselves and to be able to breathe more freely
This workshop is for all levels of Native flute players (other
types of flute welcome too).
Ornaments and Embellishments for Native Flute
A three-session course on Saturdays, May 23 - June 6, 2020, 2:00 - 3:30pm CDT, conducted online through Zoom.
Space limited to 12 persons. Ornaments and embellishments are
at the heart of the unique style of the Native flute. Pop,
bark, yip, do-it, slide, what-have-you... In this multi-week
course, we'll look at the common embellishments used with the
flute, how to play them and create our own, and how to find
our own personal style.
This course is for those with some basic experience with the
flute and beyond.
Fee: $85, includes all 3 classes and printed class materials.
Alternate Scales for Native Flute
A four-session course. Next offering of this course TBA.
Space limited to 12 persons. Learn additional scales that are
possible on the Native flute. Meets once a week for 4
weeks. We'll work with multiple scales each week, finding how
each is unique, how to use them stylistically, and learn songs
with each scale.
Fee: $110, includes all 4 classes and printed class materials.
Finger Workout workshop for Native Flute
An online workshop. Next offering of this workshop TBA.
Limited to 16 persons. Improve accuracy, smoothness and speed
in your playing. We'll look at common fingering problems and
work with exercises and patterns to clean up our playing and
help us move to that next level.
This workshop is for all levels of Native flute players.
