Houston World Flutes Concert and Workshop

Award-nominated recording world flutes artist and performer, Cornell Kinderknecht will
be joined by renowned blues and jazz pianist, Julie Bonk
for a day of musical events in the Houston, Texas area. Cornell and
Julie will present a concert (open to the public) at 4pm. All
are welcome (advance tickets available below). Prior to the concert,
Cornell will hold a workshop for players of the Native American flute.
Hosted by the Spring Cypress / Greater Houston Native American
Flute Circle.

Come join us for a fun and experiential workshop on playing this
beautiful instrument. Develop your own unique sound and find your
song.
In our morning session we will work on all aspects of playing NAF,
including technique, finger control, dynamics and breath. In the
afternoon, we'll explore the fine art of crafting songs (both
improvised and composed) for our instrument, melody formation,
including song structures, phrasing, ornamentation, and developing
our musical ideas.
Flutes in A-minor recommended for group instruction. If you have
multiple flutes in A-minor, please bring along if you're willing to
share with someone who might not have that key. Also bring
any other flutes you may want to play.
(we'll take a short break for lunch during the workshop)

lessons may be available with Cornell this weekend by

World Flutes Concert

Bonk for a beautiful and moving concert of music on world
flutes, including Native American flute, bansuri, ocarina, bamboo
flutes, and others. This concert is open to the public. Advance ticket purchase is recommended.

Biographies:
Cornell Kinderknecht is an award-nominated recording artist,
performer, and instructor of flutes
from around the world. He has
twice been a finalist for "Musician of the Year" at the Texas Music
Awards and he and his music have been featured on the
nationally-aired television series, "The Art of Living Gallery." He
has recorded music for PBS series and has debuted works for choir
and Native American flute. His flute playing will be heard in an
independent film expected to show nationally throughout theaters in
2012. Cornell is in high demand as a performer and presenter at

Julie Bonk is one of those rare musicians who expresses from
deep within her soul, giving unique life
and color to everything
she plays. She has performed with such notables as Bob Hope, Buggs
Henderson, The Supremes, The Drifters, The Platters and
Z.Z. Hill. Julie is a well-respected and accomplished piano teacher
in jazz and blues improvisation, composition, performance technique
and vocal styling. Some of her better-known students have included
Grammy Award Winner Norah Jones, Amy Abbott Owsley, Matt Mina and
